The DX-5D is made of a tough corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy with a hard alumite coating for extra rigidity. It’s durable and ready to stand up to tough use. Its snug design keeps it compact and lightweight, and its leather-toned outer surface reflects the high quality of the camera it houses inside.

On the back, a newly designed pickup viewfinder brings every corner of the camera frame into clear view. You can easily sense when the shutter is pressed halfway to activate features without tripping the shutter. Inside, a leak sensor keeps watch for water inside the housing.

The DX-5D comes standard with two type-N strobe connectors (2-pin and 6-pin) that are compatible with the popular SEA&SEA Series-YS strobes. The 6-pin connector accepts the optional TTL converter for Canon cameras that enables TTL flash adjustment for accurately lit flash photography. The DX-5D is also compatible with SEA&SEA NX ports used by the NX housing series.

The Canon EOS 5D camera inside has a full-sized 35 mm/1.4 inch CMOS sensor that provides the same light-exposure surface size as 35-mm film. It eliminates the slight telephoto effect created by smaller standard digital camera sensors and brings back the spacious feel of 35-mm film photography.

The DX-5D: all the quality of film underwater with the flexibility and convenience of digital imaging.

The included type-N 6-pin connector accepts the optional TTL converter for Canon cameras. The converter works with a SEA&SEA strobe to provide automatic TTL flash adjustment.
* The converter requires the 5-pin Sync Cord/N for connecting to a strobe.

Customizing the housing offers additional functions. You can replace the 6-pin strobe connector on the top of the housing with a 2-pin strobe connector for an additional cost, 89034. This modification provides two 2-pin connectors so you can connect two SEA&SEA Series-YS strobes.

* This modification does not support automatic TTL flash adjustment. It requires the 5-pin Sync Cord/N.
* The DX-5D housing comes from the factory with these type-N connectors: one 2-pin connector and one 6-pin connector.
* To use two SEA&SEA Series-YS strobes with the factory-equipped type-N connectors, you must use the 5-pin Dual Sync Cord/N 03470.

* This housing accepts lens ports and other accessories in the NX housing series.
* Not all NX ports and accessories work with the DX-5D. Refer to the system chart for details.

The large window on the back provides a clear view of the LCD display so you can work easily underwater with the wide variety of functions offered by the 5D camera.
The newly-designed shutter lever is large and easy to press. It clearly indicates when it’s pressed halfway. It gives a light, smooth, and comfortable shutter release.
When the focus mode is set to M (manual), turn the Focus/Zoom dial to adjust focus. When you use a zoom lens, this dial functions as the zoom dial.
Use the AE lock lever to lock the automatic focus. For convenience you can press it while holding the grip.
The large top display panel window puts full camera information in easy sight.
The leak sensor instantly detects water in the housing and blinks so you can take immediate steps to keep water from getting into the camera.
The DX-5D comes standard with a shutter-activated focus light connector, indispensable for macro work and shooting in dark conditions.
The housing also comes standard with two strobe connectors on top: one 2-pin connector and one 6-pin connector.
